I’ve been under a lot more stress than usual lately. It didn’t occur to me that it was quite as severe as it is until I visited my doctor last week and noticed that my blood pressure and heart rate, both of which I already take a prescribed medication to lower, were on the high side. (This is with a heart medication on board, mind you.)
When I think about how stress is affecting my health, it makes sense to me. After all, chronic illness doesn’t just ask me to worry about all of the day-to-day stresses such as work, finances, or relationships…it demands that worry about all of that on top of feeling awful and exhausted. Sometimes it seems like I’m very carefully balancing ten different items on a platter, trying not to let any of them drop. Unfortunately, my health has been the one that I’ve been dropping lately.
Journaling has been helpful. I think it’s an activity that is highly underrated. I can learn a lot just by jotting down what I’m thinking. Sometimes it eases any tension or worries off of my shoulders so that I can go to sleep. Other times, I just read back on my journal entries and summarize what I think may be going on.
However helpful journaling has been, it hasn’t been enough to reduce most of my stress, though. Which is why I’ve consistently stayed open to trying new things, including aromatherapy. Recently, I’ve been fortunate to be able to have my first experience with aromatherapy.

I was recently contacted via the Chronic Illness Bloggers network to try an Essential Oil Diffuser for Aromatherapy from Organic Aromas. Since I had never tried aromatherapy, I was excited about this opportunity. Although I had heard from several people that aromatherapy could be beneficial for me, I had never tried it. I was eager to find out if I could reduce some of my daily stress by using aromatherapy with Organic Aromas Raindrop Essential Oil Diffuser.
The Raindrop Essential Oil Diffuser arrived in a carefully packed box. It included a wooden base, glass reservoir, glass cap, the power cord, two long plastic droppers, a small black carrying case, instructions, and the Serenity Essential Oil Blend. Everything that I needed to get started with aromatherapy was included.
Because this was my first experience with aromatherapy and using a diffuser of any kind, I did read the instructions carefully after I unpacked all of the items from the box. Thankfully, Organic Aromas made it easy for me to put together my first diffuser. The instructions included a detailed and easy to understand explanation of all of the parts of the diffuser, a step-by-step guide for putting it together, how to add the essential oil, how to turn it on and even how to clean it after using. I went from a novice who had never seen a diffuser, much less used one, to someone who could assemble a diffuser and begin using it in just a few minutes.
Due to the fact that I have lots of mischievous kitty cats (literally, eight of them) the list of potential locations in our house to place the diffuser was significantly shortened. After searching for a few minutes, I decided to put it in our kitchen. Although it wasn’t as close to our living room or den as I would’ve liked, I thought that in addition to it being safe from playful cats, it would be a thorough test as to how well it diffused the scent throughout our home.
This little diffuser amazed me! Not only is it so quiet that I barely noticed it was running, but it spread the Serenity Essential Oil Blend throughout most of our house. I could definitely smell it from our living room and den, and I think if all of our doorways had been opened, I probably could have smelled it in other areas of our house, too.
I was pleasantly surprised by how calm and relaxed I felt for the rest of the day. Long after the diffuser had been turned off, I felt peaceful and content; similar to how I usually feel after reading my favorite book or taking a long bubble bath. I can definitely see myself turning this on to help me unwind after a long day at work or using it on a bad day with arthritis or fibromyalgia.
One unexpected perk was the effect it had on the odors in our house. We’ve struggled to get rid of the smell of mothballs, which seems to be coming from our carpet and vents. After running the diffuser for a little over an hour, the mothball smell noticeably lessened. I imagine this could possibly help with other odors, too.
A possible disadvantage is the LED light, which constantly changes colors and can be a little bright and distracting at times. However, this wasn’t an issue for me since I ended up placing mine in a safe location away from curious kitties, and therefore also safe from sensitive eyes. If it was placed in the same room that I was occupying, then this might be an issue.
All in all, I was very satisfied with my first experience with aromatherapy using the Raindrop Diffuser and the Serenity Essential Oil Blend by Organic Aromas. I would recommend this product to anyone, but especially someone like myself who has never used a diffuser or aromatherapy before. In spite of not knowing anything about aromatherapy, Organic Aromas made it very easy for me to set up the diffuser, use it and care for it.
