Hi there! My name is Hannah, and I am the creator and blogger behind Knittering In Appalachia. I started this blog approximately two years ago, initially as a side project to my full-time job as a registered nurse. The first time I became interested in blogging, I was in the middle of my (rare!) lunch break during a twelve hour night shift. I’ve been blogging ever since, but recently I’ve decided to treat my side project seriously.
Nowadays, I spend much of my time blogging about do-it-yourself (DIY) projects, sewing and quilting tutorials, and my favorite food recipes. I love to talk about making things from scratch – everything from bread mixes to homemade lotions and creams. Whenever I have the option to make a product (instead of purchasing it), I always try to find a more frugal, cheaper and healthier option for me and my family. I credit this to my upbringing in rural Appalachia. I’m accustom to “making do” with what I have. This is a practice that I hope to bring to my blog for others to use in their daily life.
I also talk about chronic illness here, because of the impact that it has had on me and my loved ones. However, I try not to let it take over Knittering In Appalachia completely. If you click on “Chronic Illness” on the main menu, it will take you that part of my blog.
Whether you’re here because you’re also dealing chronic illness, or you want to check out some awesome do-it-yourself (DIY) projects, craft ideas, and food recipes, there’s something here for just about everyone. I hope you enjoy your time here at Knittering In Appalachia!
